Statement of Purpose
"Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it."  Proverbs 22:6

Childrens Open Bible

The purpose of Mother's Day Out is to provide supervised child care for preschoolers of church members and community friends.  Our program provides mothers with regular time, free from their children, to meet personal and family needs.  Our current efforts are to provide opportunities for preschool children to experience truths about God, Jesus, the Bible, family, church, nature, self and others.  Learning centers are designed to meet the needs of the growing physical, emotional, and spiritual development.
Learning centers:  Art, Blocks, Books, Homeliving, Music, Nature, Puzzles, and Group Time.

Our Basic Philosphy
in Working With Children

Personality Development
* We treat him as a personality and give opportunity for creative expression.
* We encourage the child to think for himself.
* We give the child some freedom of choice and self- expression.
* We try to give the child reasons why we do certain things.
* We remember that children like to help, to have responsibility.
* We learn to talk with a child and plan for many opportunities each
day to listen to what the child wants to say.
 * We follow through when we have requested a response.
* We let the child know when we expect certain responses.
* We let the aggressive or disobedient child know that  we do not
approve of his actions, but that we still love him.
* We give children the opportunity to
work out their differences.
* Time-out.

Discipline
* We use a positive approach of kind firmness.
* We try to be consistent.
* We make suggestions more often than demands.

Teacher-Child Relations
* Consider all the children in the group and refrain from having favorites.
* We do not touch up their art work, etc.
* We use soft voices when speaking to the children.
* We remember that children learn from us in many ways other than oral communication.
* We try to anticipate trouble and avoid unpleasant situations.
* We are consistently alert to needs that must be met in the room and on the playground.  We give our undivided attention to the supervision of class activities.
We do not leave the room unattended.

Days and Ages
We have classes on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday for 12 months through 3 years of age.  There are usually
10-12 children per class.

Hours
Our hours are from 9:00am until 3:00pm.
A supervised "Before and After Care" is available. Early care begins at 7:45am and end at 9am.  After care begins at 3pm and ends at 5pm. (there is an additional charge for late pickup).  A "security card" is given to all parents and must be shown when picking up your child.

Teaching Aids
We try not to do for the child what he can do for himself.
We try to know at all times what every child is doing.
We teach children to finish what they begin.
When we pray aloud, we use the child's language in short sentences.
If we offer a choice a to a child, we have to accept his decision.

Regulations
Mother's Day Out has consistently maintained quality care as required by the Department of Social Services.
We comply with all "Class B" licensing regulations.

Mother's Day Out does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, sex, national origin or ancestry, or handicapping conditions (if reasonable) accommodations can be made to meet the needs of the child.
